Perspectives for scientific cooperation between Azerbaijan and France discussed

ANAS President, Academician Akif Alizadeh met with delegation headed by the President of the France Chemical Research Foundation, Honored Scientist Bernard Meunier.

Speaking about the ties of domestic scientists with various scientific centers of France, head of ANAS noted that, fruitful cooperation has been established in the field of oil and gas, geology, archeology, geography, philosophy, space research, etc.

Stressing the role of the French Embassy in Azerbaijan in strengthening these ties, Academician said that, ANAS is interested in further expanding cooperation with the relevant scientific and educational institutions of France in the future.

Academician Akif Alizadeh told the guests about the activities of certain institutions of ANAS, including the activities of the High-Tech Park, events aimed at applying scientific results in production and commercialization of science.

Thanking the leadership of ANAS for the cordial welcome, Bernard Meunier noted that, the main purpose of the visit to Azerbaijan is participation in the opening ceremony of the new building of the University of France-Azerbaijan, which functions at the Azerbaijan State University of Oil and Industry, and expressed his confidence that this higher school will make a great contribution to the development of education in the country in the future.

Expressing his satisfaction with the close cooperation of the relevant organizations of France with ANAS, Meunier stressed the need for further strengthening of scientific ties between the two countries in the future.

Then, General Director of the Research and Innovation Department of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of France, Alain Beretz, spoke about the scientific ties and exchange of experience between Azerbaijan and France. Speaking about the close cooperation of the Academy with the French University of Montpellier and the future signing of the agreement between the two organizations, Beretz noted that other scientific and educational centers of France are interested in establishing ties with the relevant organizations of Azerbaijan.

Speaking about the implemented innovative projects and the exchange of doctoral students between the two countries, Alain Beretz stressed the need to expand bilateral cooperation in similar areas in the future.

The meeting was also attended by Vice-President of the University of Strasbourg Iren Jacobberger, Head of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science Pierre Collett, adviser of the Embassy of France in Azerbaijan on culture and cooperation issues Johan Shiterer, Vice-President of ANAS, Academician Ibrahim Guliyev, Academician-Secretary of ANAS, Academician Rasim Aliguliyev, Head of the Office of Science and Education of the Presidium of ANAS, Corresponding Member of ANAS Aminaga Sadigov, Head of Office of the International Relations, Ph.D. in Biology, Esmira Alirzayeva, head of Office of the Public Relations and Popularization of Science Zulfugar Farzaliyev and others.
