Genetic Resources Institute Researchers Participate in International Training

An international training programme on “Strengthening Genome Editing and Plant Biotechnology Capacity for Climate-Resilient Agriculture” was held on 22–25 September 2026 at the Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology (CEMB), University of the Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan.

The programme brought together researchers from five countries. Azerbaijan was represented by Orkhan Bayramli and Rahim Rahimov, researchers at the Genetic Resources Institute.

Participants received theoretical and practical training in CRISPR/Cas genome editing, molecular breeding, genetic transformation and modern plant biotechnology, with a focus on climate-resilient crops.

The programme, financially supported by COMCEC and organized with the support of COMSTECH, also included visits to the University of Agriculture Faisalabad and the Ayub Agricultural Research Institute.

The participation of the Institute’s researchers contributed to enhancing their professional expertise and strengthening international scientific cooperation in plant biotechnology.
