A number of issues were discussed at the meeting of the Scientific Council of  Genetic Resources Institute of ANAS. Director of the Institute, Corresponding Member of ANAS Zeynal Akparov noted that the second meeting of the Scientific Council in 2021 was organized online in connection with the pandemic, and drew attention to the issues on the agenda. He noted that certain work arising from the decision of the Presidium of ANAS No. 1/2 dated January 8, 2021 (on improving the structure and optimization of management in ANAS) should be carried out efficiently, the work of the research departments of the institute should be strengthened, and attention should be paid to disciplinary questions.

Z. Akparov noted that he highly appreciates the reforms carried out in ANAS and the creation of purchase departments, an innovation manager and a chief engineer in the institute in accordance with the decision of the Presidium, will allow the effective use of the existing equipment of the institute and earn extra-budgetary funds.

The issues of strengthening the work of the research departments of the institute were discussed and it was proposed to unite these departments, given the proximity of scientific research in the departments of plant biochemistry and technology.

Council members emphasized that the staff of these departments can more productively carry out scientific work under one department, and it was decided to petition the department of biological and medical sciences to combine the departments by voting. It was decided to make partial changes to the names of a number of departments of the institute. The Scientific Council also discussed the "Comprehensive plan for the research work of the institute for 2021-2025". Z. Akperov said that earlier, each department of the institute conducted research on a separate topic. In the plan for the next 5 years, it was considered expedient that different departments conduct research on one topic in order to increase the efficiency of scientific work and a comprehensive study of the genetic material under study. Thus, the research works of the departments of cereals, legumes and melons, vegetables, industrial and forage plants and fruits were combined into one topic. In addition, the topics of the departments of plant physiology and immunogenetics, biochemistry and technology, as well as biotechnology and molecular cytogenetics were combined, and in general, the institute intends to continue research on seven topics. For the next 5 years, the thematic plan of the institute also includes works and stages of scientific research in the liberated territories. Z. Akparov noted that after the clearance of the liberated territories, the genetic resources of these regions will be gradually surveyed, collected, comprehensively evaluated and used in breeding. by members of the Scientific Council was widely discussed the five-year research plan and adopted by open ballot.

Elmi Şurada İnstitutun “2021-2025-ci illər üzrə elmi-tədqiqat işlərinin əhatəli planı” da geniş müzakirə olundu. Z.Əkpərov bildirdi ki, əvvəllər İnstitutda hər şöbə ayrıca mövzu üzrə elmi tədqiqat işləri aparırdı. Növbəti 5 ilin planında isə aparılan elmi işlərin səmərəliliyinin artırılması və öyrənilən genetik materialların kompleks tədqiq olunması üçün müxtəlif şöbələrin bir mövzu daxilində tədqiqat işi aparılması daha məqsədəuyğun hesab edilmişdir. Belə ki, Dənli taxıl və paxlalı bitkilər, Tərəvəz və bostan bitkiləri, Texniki və yem bitkiləri və  Meyvə bitkiləri şöbələrinin təklif etdikləri elmi tədqiqat işləri bir mövzu altında birləşdirilmişdir. Bundan başqa, Bitki fiziologiyası və İmmunogenetika şöbələrinin, Biokimya və Texnologiya şöbələrinin, eləcə də Biotexnologiya və Molekulyar sitogenetika şöbələrinin mövzuları birləşdirilmiş, ümumilikdə İnstitutda elmi tədqiqat işlərinin 7 mövzu üzrə davam etdirilməsi nəzərdə tutulmuşdur.  Qeyd edildi ki, növbəti 5 il ərzində mövzu planına işğaldan azad olunmuş ərazilərdə də elmi tədqiqat işlərinin aparılması üzrə iş və mərhələlər daxil edilmişdir. Z.Əkpərov bildirmişdi ki, işğaldan azad olunmuş ərazilərimiz minalardan təmizləndikdən sonra mərhələli şəkildə həmin bölgələrin genetik ehtiyatları təftiş olunacaq, toplanılaraq kompleks şəkildə qiymətləndiriləcək və onlardan seleksiyada istifadə olunacaqdır.  5 illik elmi tədqiqat planı Elmi Şuranın üzvləri tərfindən geniş müzakirə edilərək açıq səsvermə ilə qəbul edilmişdir.
