Deputy Director on scientific affairs of the Genetic Resources Institute of ANAS, doctor of philosophy in Biology Mehraj Abbasov and Senior Scientific Researcher of the institute, doctor of philosophy in Biology Ayaz Mammadov have been assigned on a business trip to Turkey.
The Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC) of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and 25 Islamic countries participated at the training, which was jointly financed by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation (COMCEC) and the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock of Turkey
During 5 day business trip the young researchers participated in a training called “Clone, rootstock, sapling production and tissue culture technology” at the laboratory of Biotechnology of “S.S.Bademli Fidancılık Tarımsal Kalkınma Kooperatifi” cooperative in Izmir city within the project “Information bases, information networks and web page construction between small scale farms, family households and cooperatives in the member states of the Islam Cooperation Organisation” (training No 2014-TURAGRIC-065).
Preparing of medium for plant tissue, taking and sterilizing of plant material for the tissue culture, obtaining of a meristem tissue under a microscope, planting of tissue culture to the medium, multiplying, rooting stages were theoretically and practically carried out at the workshop.
During the trip, the training participants held meetings with professors of the Department of Bioengineering of the Engineering Faculty of Ege University in Izmir Bahattin Tanyolac and Aynur Gurel. They discussed joint cooperation between Ege University and the GRI.
Upon successful completion of the training course M.Abbasov and A.Mammadov received certificates.
