The senior scientist of "Germplasm” laboratory of Genetic Resources Institute of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Sevinj Mammadova, PhD on biology, associate professor, has been on business trip for 11day in Rabat, Morocco in April this year.
She took part on a specialized training course on “Ensuring the continuum between conservation and utilization of genetic resources through strengthening pre-breeding activities” in the International Center for Agriculture Research in the drought areas (ICARDA)".
The training course were carried out the lectures and seminars on topics of conservation, security of collected GR, parameters collection (FIGS), cytogenetic approaches for crossing and barriers in interspecific crossing, embryo separation method, also with the aim of Food Security aspects on improving ancient varieties by crossing them with the sources of sustainable genes of far geographical source on climate change background. It also describes all the activities for identification and improvement of the genes from the initial selection stages, the use of non-adaptive (exotic) as well as adapted materials to identify and improve genes. It gives detailed information about abiotic stresses, selection criteria study for quality and selective, hereditary, genetic resources and cell plasma enrichment for sustainability sources and on social-economic studies that meet the users' needs.
S.Mammadova successfully completed the training and received certificates.
