A Genetic Resources Institute (GRI) of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) has held next internatioanal webinar (seminar via internet).
A scientific employee of the “Human genetics” group of the department of Biotechnology of the GRI Bayram Bayramov made a report called “A methylation analysis of E-Cadherin and p14ARF genes with patients diagnosed with the cancer of the bladder” at the seminar.
He presented general information about the bladder cancer, told about the risk factors, as well as the role of the genetic and epigenetic modifications in creation of the decease.
B.Bayramov noted that along with the genetic factors the epigenetic factors play special role in the creation of cancer.
A methylation created in promoters of the epigenetic modifications and especially of the tumor suppressor genes plays an important role in the creation of cancer through inactivation of genes.
A methylation at the level of DNA, which is a modification of such a type, is beneficial from the point of view of finding more sensitive and specific new biomarkers in early diagnostics of the cancer.
A wide discussion followed by the question and answer session took place during the webinar.
Let’s note that Bayram Bayramov, who has a specialization of a medical doctor-biologist, graduated from Azerbaijan State Medical University in 2013.
In 2013 he was admitted to the master’s programme of the Medical Biology/Genetics Chair of Ondokuz Mayıs University in Turkey and successfully graduated from the master’s level of the university with specialization in Human Genetics in 2015.
Presently he conducts research on the methylation analysis of E kaderin and p14 genes with patients with diagnosis of bladder cancer at the department of Biotechnology of the GRI.
