International webinars (seminars via internet) are continued to take place at the Genetic Resources Institute (GRI) of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences.
A scientific employee of the department of Ecobotanics and systematics of the GRI, doctoral student of the Middle East Technical University (Orta DoğuTeknik Üniversitesi) in Anraka, Turkey Tural Javadzade made a report “DNA barcoding in plants”.
The speaker provided detailed information about DNA Barcoding in plants, several non-encoded sequencing (trnL intron, trnL-trnFintergenic spacer, ITS) in plant nucleus and chloroplasts DNAs, adding nucleotide sequences to NCBI, application of them to the plant systematics.
In addition to it, the speaker especially stressed the importance of a composition of the phylogenetictree in MEGA 6.0 software and Molecular Phylogenetics in modern systematics. Then followed discussions about topic and questions.
Director of the GRI, corresponding member of ANAS Zeynal Akparov and corresponding member of ANAS I.Shakhmuradov participated in discussions.
At the end of the webinar, it was emphasized that this method will in future be used at the department of Biotechnologies of the GRI and a molecular phylogenetic research of plants collected in Azerbaijan will be launched.
